On this exceptional day, marking the 73rd anniversary of Ashdod, the city takes another major step in its academic and urban development. The building permit for the new university campus of Ashdod has just been signed, paving the way for one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the region.
It was Adv. Gabriel Knafo, Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Planning and Construction Committee, who signed this crucial permit. The future Ashdod campus will be located in the new district east of the Assuta Hospital, at the heart of the city’s educational, scientific, and technological vision.
The campus will include five state-of-the-art buildings, designed to host the best of higher education: a large library with an innovation center, classrooms and faculties, offices for academic staff, a cafeteria, security posts, and an energy center built to the highest standards.
According to the municipal plan, the campus area is intended to expand to 150 dunams, further strengthening Ashdod’s position as a major academic hub in Israel.
Around the campus, Ashdod will develop a redesigned road network and new public transportation lines to ensure fast and efficient access. The proximity to the train station will allow students from both the north and the south of the country to reach Ashdod and its campus with ease.
“Today, we took another step toward transforming Ashdod into a city where residents can enjoy the very best in healthcare, leisure, and now academia,” Knafo declared. He also emphasized that this new campus will complement the presence of the SCE – Sami Shamoon College of Engineering, already active and thriving in Ashdod for many years.
Knafo thanked the Mayor, Dr. Yehiel Lasri, for his vision and leadership, as well as the city engineer, architect Iyad Yousef Balaoum, for his exemplary dedication to this large-scale project.
Ashdod moves forward, Ashdod innovates, Ashdod builds its future.
Ashdod celebrates its anniversary with a historic announcement: the building permit for the new university campus is officially signed!
